December – Week 2 Goals [Check-In]

This week has been super busy and productive. I went through a ton of college art and happily through them out after photographing the pieces I want to remember. Although I didn’t enjoy the process necessarily, I was able to see how much my creative style has grown and also that I WAS good. Looking back at the pieces made me realize that as I’m about to ‘level’ up in an area in my life, I quit or change paths. This is an area I need to reflect on but in the meantime, I’ve captured photos of my good pieces as evidence that I am good at drawing and making art. So the next time I think, “I’m not good” I can open the folder of art and remind myself, “Yes, I am good. I still have a lot to learn but I’ve grown a lot. Even if it doesn’t work out this time, it likely will work out next time. Plus I enjoy the process of making art and I’d be robbing myself of that joy if I quit because of a fear of not being good enough.”

In addition to the pile of artwork, I went through about 2/3rds of Liam’s 13 years’ worth of memorabilia. Realistically, I probably have 1-2 hours to go to complete his box. Now that I have my system in place, it’s become so much easier to sort/organize and also to purge unwanted pieces.

Where does that leave me with my monthly goals?

I’ve moved my deadline to Dec 28th and that’s a hard date with family coming over the 29th. My goal is to:

  • Pick up small piles around the house
  • Complete Liams memorabilia (My memorabilia boxes will get sorted through in January)
  • Sew the chair cushion covers

Additional tasks that need to get done:

  • Filter the kid’s toys in the playroom again so that there is room for Christmas gifts.
  • Finish decorating the house inside/outside
  • Take a tour of the lights at night with the kids
  • Bake cookies
  • Wrap presents
  • Enjoy a restful Christmas with my famliy
  • Prep for my husband’s family visiting (deep clean, menu plan/groceries, look into activities to do

What have I learned this week?

  • It’s better to work on my goals 15min a day rather than waiting for a day where I might have more time to knock it out. When I wait, I feel like I’m procrastinating and continuing bad habits. When I work on it daily, I’m showing myself I’m actively working on my goal each day and know that it will get done eventually.
  • I don’t need to give 110% to everything. Sometimes it’s better to just get things done.
  • I need to practice self-compassionate every day.

That’s it for me this week. How did you do this week? What wins and lessons learned are you celebrating?

December – Week 1 Goals [Check-In]

Hey, I hope you’re doing well! Here is my weekly check-in… This week, I completed Miles’ memorabilia and started on Liam’s memorabilia which was a big win because he has a lot more stuff saved being the oldest. The process I’ve been using has been so helpful and freeing. I’m able to more easily sort

November – Week 5 Goals [Check-In]

This week was rough. I started feeling too optimistic about what I could complete in the time I had on Tuesday. Lesson learned I need to make the actions smaller so they are more doable. Plan to underachieve rather than overachieve to get the feeling of accomplishment rather than feeling like I’m falling short. As

Be true to yourself. Be honest. Be real.

Yes this makes you vulnerable. Yes it’s scary and hurts sometimes, but you are not here by accident or by chance. You are here to make a difference in this world we live in. You can’t love others and change the world if you can’t love who you are and what you were born to
